About Trin

Trinity Howell is a violist and music educator from Columbia, SC. As an arts advocate, Howell splits her time between teaching, performing, and working as the Assistant Grants Coordinator with the South Carolina Arts Commission. Her musical interests blossomed while playing in her school’s fifth grade Guitar Club, a year before the viola eventually stole her heart. Since then, Trin and music have been a dynamic duo.

Howell has earned degrees from Winthrop University and Illinois State University, where she studied viola performance, research, and string pedagogy. While attending ISU, she performed frequently with the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra and the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra. Howell has also had the opportunity to play with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and the Atlanta-based Renaissance Orchestra. Outside of performing, Howell has presented at conferences from her almae matres, the American String Teachers Association, and the American Musical Instrument Society. Today, you can witness her with the Summerville Orchestra and the Charlotte Strings Collective, an ensemble of musicians highlighting classical music by black composers.

In her free time, Howell enjoys hiking, visiting amusement parks, and building miniature designs.
